COREN Council Members

Engr. Kashim A. Ali, FNSE, mni, President of COREN

Engr. Kashim Abdul Ali was born on 10th June, 1958 in Ofugo – Ankpa, Kogi State. He is a Registered Engineer, Fellow and Past President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and Member of the National Institute. He was a member of Nigeria Vision 20:2020 Steering and Implementation Committees, and Chair of the sub-Committee on Physical Infrastructure. He was also co-Chair of the Infrastructure Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and member Policy Support Group to the Economic Management Team (2008 – 2010). His working career started in the old Benue State Ministry of Works in 1982, before he joined the Federal Capital Development Authority in 1992, rising to the position of Director/Chief Executive Officer of the FCT Water Board, Special Adviser (Utilities), Director (Technical Services) of the Abuja Infrastructure Investment Centre, and lately, Director, Transportation, FCTA. He holds the traditional titles of Olimene Ata Igala, and Galadiman Ankpa. He is married with four children, and loves reading, writing, travelling and social works.

Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, FNSE, President of NSE

Engr. Olorunfemi was born on the 23rd of November 1960 in Supare- Akoko, Ondo State. He had his primary and secondary education at Ibadan City Council Primary School, Agodi Ibadan between 1967 and 1972 and St. Joseph’s College, Ondo in Ondo State from 1973 through tom 1978 respectively.
He was admitted to study Agricultural Engineering at the prestigious University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1979. During his stay at the University, he served as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA) and later as President of the Agricultural Engineering Students Society. He graduated with honours from University of Ife in 1984 and did his National Youth Service scheme in Bauchi State.
On completion of his NYSC in 1985, Engr. Olorunfemi joined Lagos State Polytechnic as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Engineering. He continued his academic journey that saw him bagging a Masters Degree from the University of Ibadan and other academic certifications both locally and internationally.
He became a Chief Lecturer at the Lagos State Polytechnic after 21 years of service.
He joined Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and was first elected into the NSE Executive Council in 1999, a feat which he repeated five times in succession. He became the Vice president, Deputy President and now the 29th President of the Nigerian Society of engineers.
The outstanding qualities and achievements of Engr. Olorunfemi as a seasoned engineer caught the attention of the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Rahman Mimiko who appointed him as the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture in 2011 and later Special Adviser on Agriculture in 2013.
Engr. Isaac Olorunfemi is happily married with Children.

Chief Leo Okereke, FNATE, President NATE.

Chief Leo was born on 21st January 1945. He started his Primary education at the famous Christ The King School (CKC) Aba 1951-1959 where he obtained the first school leaving certificate. He proceeded to the re-known Ahiara Technical College (ATC) because of his flair to consult and design. He obtained the Inter and Final City and Guilds Certificate in 1965. His quest for further studies took him to the City and Guilds of London Institute where he passed the full TECH Certificate in 1966. Chief Okereke continued his exploits by enrolling in the council of Engineering Institute (CEI) of London where he chartered as a full Technological Engineer (T.Eng) between 1976-1978. Chief Leo once again returned to the University of Science and Technology (RSUST) Nkpolu Port-Harcourt in Rivers State where he graduated with B.Sc degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering 1999-2004. His research thrust in Engineering and Technology took him to Imo State University Owerri where he obtained Masters Degree in Construction Management Technology 2008-2010. He is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Leonado Engineering Nigeria Sokoto and Power Poles Industry Naze, Owerri. He is an official member of several professional bodies including; Council Member- Council For The Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), President- Nigeria Association Of Technologists in Engineering (NATE), Institute of Engineers and Technicians (MIET) London, Association of Supervisory and Executive Engineers London (MASEE), National Inspector Engineering Regulation and Monitoring (ERM), member- Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE).

Mr. Bolu James Ajibolu, President NISET

Bolu James Ajibolu, Tech FNISET was born in Lampese, Akoko–Edo, Edo State.
He had his Primary Education in Saint Peter’s LSMB School, Ogori in Ogori/Mangongo,Kogi State.
He attended Government Technical College, Patigi in Kwara State between 1978–1983 where he obtained grades in 3 and 2 of the Federal Trade Test (FTT), Federal Craft Certificate (FCC) and part I & II of the WAEC Technical Certificate in Fabrication Engineering Craft Practice. He was the Deputy Head boy in his final year.
He joined the Pioneer Integrated Paper Industry in West Africa Sub–region (NPM Ltd, Jebba) Kwara State as Craftsman/Technician in the core Mechanical Maintainance Department between 1984–2001. He served in various management committees as shop floor / National Vice-President of the National Union of Printing Paper and Papers Products Workers (NUPPPPROW).
Between 1999 – 2001, he attended Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin for Advanced Certificate in Motor Vechicle Repairs. Between 2003–2005; he developed himself further at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, for Higher Technician Diploma (HTD) in Mechanical Engineering, HND (in view) The Ploytechnic, Ibadan.
He registered with NISET as a corporate member in 2005 and served as the first, Administrative Officer of NISET. He became a fellow of NISET in 2007, was elected as the 3rd National Secretary of NISET in 2009.
He emerged as the 3rd National President of NISET on 25th May, 2012; He now represents NISET as a Council member with COREN.

Mr. Arima Victor Ikechukwu, President NAEC.

Arima Victor Ikechukwu, born on 22 Sept 1950. Education: Primary and Vocational/Technical School, Study Electrical Installation Works.

Working Experience: Employed in Aviation Industry under FAAN, for 26yrs. Retired in 2006.
Join The Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftmen as Kano State Chairman from 2003 to 2010, now (FNAEC) also COREN Registered.
Presently the National Chairman of NAEC.

Married with three Children.

Engr. Mustafa Balarabe Shehu, FNSE

Mustafa Balarabe Shehu was born on 12th April to a Veterinary Officer Alhaji Shehu Salihu and Hajiya Rakiya, both of blessed memory.

He attended  the prestigious Government College Kaduna under the Kano State Government scholarship. He then gained admission at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. He did the mandatory NYSC programme at Enugu.
Engr. Shehu was employed as Pupil Electrical Engineer with the Lagos Thermal Station Egbin, a 6x220MW gas turbine generating station for the National Electric Power Authority.
He was later appointed a Senior Electrical Engineer by the Kano State Rural Electricity Board. He was in charge of the Construction Department and rose to the post of Assistant Director.
He later resigned his services to form MBS Engineering Ltd where he is the Chairman/CEO in the company.
Engr. Shehu has been serving the Nigerian Society of Engineers for a period spanning about two decades in different capacities before becoming the President of the Society. He is the immediate past President of NSE.
He is well travelled and a recipient of several award locally and internationally.

Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat, FNSE

Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat was born in Ganawuri, Riyom Local Government area of Plateau State. He attended the famous Boys Secondary School Gindiri and the Federal University of Technology Minna where he graduated with B.Eng. Civil Engineering.

After the completion of NYSC programme, he had one year of private practice before gaining employment into the Plateau State Civil Service as Pupil Civil Engineer II in 1992. He gradually rose to Ag. Director, Civil Engineering in 2001, a position he held till 2010. To update his knowledge in information Technology, he studied Computer Application in the University of Jos between 2002 and 2004 graduating with a Diploma.

He was the only Nigerian Engineer selected by the Swedish International Development Agency Sida, among other 25 Engineers from the Sub-Saharan Africa for a One month International programme in Road sector Management in Stockhol Sweden in 2005. This was followed by phase two of the programme in 2006 in Windhoek Namibia.

He was appointed Permanent Secretary in the Plateau State Civil Service in 2010 and posted to the Ministry of Works where he is serving till date.

He has been an active member of Nigeria Society of Engineers Jos branch and has served as financial secretary, treasurer and Branch Chairman. He has also been a member of the appointment, promotion and discipline Committee for three consecutive years at the National level.

He attended and participated in the World Federation of Engineering Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 2011.

He has presented several Papers in different Seminars, workshops and conferences of Engineering both local and internationally.

Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat is married with a beautiful daughter.


Engr. Dr. Babagana Mohammed, FNSE

Dr. Babagana Mohammed holds a PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College London, UK. Prior to that, he attended University of Maiduguri, Nigeria (BSc) and University of Ibadan, Nigeria (MSc). At the Universities in Maiduguri and Ibadan, he studied Agricultural Engineering (specializing in Structures and Environmental Engineering). He also attended many professional courses locally and internationally. Dr. Mohammed is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers since 2005 and he is registered with the Chartered Institution of Waste Management, UK.
While at Imperial College London he was a member of a world-class research team with a reputation for excellence. He is also a member of the Imperial College Consultancy Society, London, UK.
Dr. Mohammed currently lectures at the University of Maiduguri where he is also the Coordinator of the esteemed Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit in the University. He is a member of many Boards / Committees in the University system and has served as Overseer/pioneer Head, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, University of Maiduguri. He also practices as an independent Consultant and has worked on many projects in the public and private sectors.
Dr. Mohammed is a Council-Member in the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and was also privileged to serve on the same Council previously (2002–2004). He has also served as a Council-Member, Governing Council of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri (2001–2003); served the Nigerian Society of Engineers at the national level for eight consecutive years (as National EXCO Member from 1999 – 2005; and as a Vice President in 2006); and he is a Member of the Committee on Engineering & Evironment, World Federation of Engineering Organisations, Paris, France since 2004.
He is a recipient of many awards including Paviors Laing Award/Prize (at Imperial College, London, UK); Official Commendation Letter by PTDF, Nigeria; NSE Presidential Merit Awards (twice); University of Maiduguri Fellowship Postgraduate Award; Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Award; John Holt (Nig.) Limited University Undergraduate Award; and his biography is cited in 3 editions of a leading world biography-publication. 
He has attended many conferences around the world and has published many technical papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is interested in sports and plays football, table tennis and badminton.

Engr. Olumuyiwa Alade Ajibola, FNSE

Engr. Olumuyiwa Alade Ajibola FNSE, an Engineer and Entrepreneur, is a Past President  of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He hails from Ile-Ife in Osun State. A Distinguished Civil Engineer, obtaining B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of London (1970) and M.Sc. degree in Highways Engineering and Construction Management from the University of Birmingham, UK (1979). He founded in 1976, INTECON PARTNERSHIP, which today is one of the leading Engineering Consultancy Firms in Nigeria. He is also the Chairman of Board of the following companies; Interworks Engineering Ltd, a construction firm and Automated Geotechnics Ltd, a specialist Geotechnical & Foundation Engineering Firm. He is currently representing COREN as a Member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board NCDMB, a Member of Engineering and Environment Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations WFEO and Co-chair of Infrastructure Policy Commission (IPC) of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). Engr. Olumuyiwa A. Ajibola holds a Chieftaincy title of Agbaakin of Ile Ife (The Source). An astute and committed family man, he is also author of several Technical papers. He is well respected and acknowledged for his strong views and efforts, towards according Engineering and its practitioners in Nigeria, the space to drive national development & growth.

Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE

Born in Onitsha, Nigeria, on 4th March, 1951, Engr. Otis Anyaeji obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria in 1976.

He was the first Nigerian Chief Project Consultant on Ajaokuta Steel Project (US$6bn), 1993 – 1994.

From 2005,his firm O. T. OTIS ENGINEERING jointly with Lahmeyer International has been performing as Design & Management Consultants on the NIPP comprising 10 Power Stations, 110 Transmission Lines/Substations, 1230 Distribution Projects, 22 Metering Stations/Gas Transmission Lines,with Telecoms/Teleprotection Networking on 90 sites. Otis Engineering is also the Joint Project Consultant on the first Wind Farm Power Project in West Africa.

Engr. Anyaeji founded the Institute of Appraisers & Cost Engineers (2003), and Automotive Engineers Institute (2006), both Divisions of the NSE. He served three terms as Secretary General (1989, 1990, 1991), and three terms as Vice President of the NSE (2011, 2012, 2013). Currently he is the Deputy President/President-Elect of NSE, and Vice President (Anglophone), West African Federation of Engineering Organisations.

Anyaeji is a Fellow of the NSE; a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers; a Fellow in Valuation, a Fellow of the Automotive Engineers Institute, a Fellow in Cost Engineering, and a Fellow of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria. He was in March 2014 elected a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering.

Engr. Dr. Anthony C. Nebo, MNSE

Engr. Dr. Anthony C. Nebo is  a 1972 Mechanical Engineering Graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), with 1st Class Hons. degree and was the best graduating student of the university in 1972. Between 1973 and 1979, he earned three graduate degrees: S.M., M.E., and Sc.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Upon graduation from UNN, he worked for Mobil Producing Nigeria, Lagos, from 1972 to 1973. He proceeded to  USA from 1973 to 1983, I worked for Mobil E&P Services International, Dallas, Texas; Mobil Oil Corporation, North American Division, New Orleans, Louisiana; Chelsea Clock Company, Chelsea, Massachusetts; and General Motors Research Laboratories, Warren Michigan.

On return to Nigeria in 1983, He joined the then Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, as a Senior Lecturer. He introduced and ran the Faculty of Engineering General Paper for degree examinations; was the university’s ASUU Chairman for four years and was member/chairman of many university/senate committees. In 1991, He joined Edans Industrial Consultans, Lagos, as an Executive Director and from 1994 to 1998 he was the Engineering Manager of Fung Tai Engineering Company that constructed Apapa Petroleum Products Jetties. He was instrumental in the company’s $25m award from an arbitration against NNPC. From 1998 – date, he has been the Head of Quodroform Engineering Company Limited.

Engr. Dr. Nebo is the Chairman, Enugu State Advisory Committee on Private Sector Development; the Coordinating Consultant on Enugu State infrastructural projects. Currently, he represent the South East Geo-political Zone on COREN Council, and was instrumental in securing land for the construction of COREN Zonal office in Enugu, the first in the country.

Engr. A.O. Unaegbu, FNSE

Engr. Unaegbu Augustine was born on 7th November, 1956 in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He is married with Children.

Engr. Unaegbu holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, in 1983. He has also attended Professional Trainings home and abroad. He has rich Professional and administrative experience.

He is a Career Civil Servant spanning a period of 28yrs. He is presently an employee of the Federal Ministry of Works and represents the Honourable Minister of Works in the COREN Council.

Engr. Unaegbu is a gentle and hardworking and his hobbies include; listerning to soft music and reading.

Engr. Dr. Frederick  Nosakhare Ogbeide, FNSE

Engr.(Dr) Frederick Nosakhare Ogbeide, currently an Assistant Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has an interface between academics and practical Civil Engineering.

He attended the Immaculate Conception College Benin city from 1974 to 1979. He later proceeded to the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Civil Engineering in 1984 as well as University of Lagos for his Master of Science Degree (M.Sc) in Highway Engineering in 1987. In May 2013, he was decorated with an Honorary D.Sc Degree in “Engineering & Project Management” by the European American University of the Commonwealth of Dominica Republic.

On completing his NYSC at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering in Makurdi in 1985, he started his academic career as a Graduate Assistant in 1985 at the University of Maiduguri. From there he proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 1990. He later joined the services of the University of Benin as a Senior Lecturer in 2000 and was later appointed the Head of Department of Civil Engineering for two academic sessions (2004-2006).

Engr (Dr) F.N.Ogbeide is a COREN Registered Engineer, He joined the NDDC in August 2006. The projects supervised and monitored includes water supply schemes, roads and bridges, rural electrification (Conventional & Solar Powered), jetties, shore protection, land reclamation, hospitals, multi-storied University Hostel Buildings and Erosion Control projects among others.

A very hard working professional, Engr. Ogbeide has served as Civil Engineering Consultant to many Private and Public Firms. He has also served in several relevant Bodies in the Engineering professional Societies. Some of his recently held positions are

1 Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE),

Benin Chapter (2009 – 2013).

2 National Vice Chairman of NICE (2013 – 2014).

3 National Ex-Officio member of NICE (2011 – 2012)

4 Member of the Membership Board of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) (2012)

Engr. Prof. Olajide John Oluranti, MNSE

Engr.Prof. John Oluranti Olajide attended Lagelu Grammer School, Ibadan and obtained his WASC in 1981.
He had his academic training at the Universities of Ife (Now Obafemi awolowo University) and Ibadan in Nigeria and Post doctoral training at Procter Department of Food Science, University of Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom.
He is a member of different Professional bodies including:

He is currently the Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso. He has to his credit many research Publications in reputable Journals.
He was Ordained a deacon in the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1998 and currently serving as a Pulpit Minister at RCCG Jesus House Parish, Isale General, Ogbomoso.
He is Married with Children.

Engr. Muhamad Abubakar Dakingari, MNSE

Muhammad Abubakar Dakingari was born on January 10th ,1966 in Dakingari, kebbi state.
He attended Town Primary School, Dakingari, Government Science Secondary
School, Birnin-Kebbi,(Nagari College) Kebbi State and ABU Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree.
He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institute of Civil Engineers and Association of Consulting Engineers of Nigeria.
Engr. Dakingari is currently a Director of Civil Engineering with the Kebbi State government. He has many years of Civil Engineering Experience and had superviced several projects in Sokoto and Kebbi state.

Engr. Prof. John Adesiji Olorunmaiye, MNSE

Engr. Prof. John Adesiji Olorunmaiye, Past Chairman of Deans of Engineering & Technology in Nigerian Universities (CODET), was born on 5th December, 1957 at Aiyesunle-Gbede, Ijumu LGA of Kogi State. He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ibadan in 1979 and Ph.D. degree from The University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada in 1985.
He was promoted to the rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Illorin with effect from October 1997. He has attended several international workshops on Engineering Education and had industrial experiences at Kaduna state Water Board, Katsina district and UNECON Associates Limited (Consulting Engineers), Ilupeju, Lagos.
He is presently the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin. He is married to Adetoun Omolara and the marriage is blessed with a son.

Engr. Wopa Kamila Maliki, FNSE, mni- Registrar and Secretary of Council.

Engr. Maliki Wopa Kamila is the Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

Until this present appointment, he was the Director, Water Resources Engineering Service, Ministry of Water Resources, Kwara State and in charge of the Kwara State Water Turn-Around Programme.

He has over the years acquired experience in various aspects of engineering project supervision, construction and procurement services, in the civil service of the Kwara State. He served as a member of several project team in the State, such as KWHA Complex, Kwara State Library, Secretariat Phase II & III etc projects . He was directly in charge of Mechanical Engineering Service design and supervision of several capital projects in the State. In 2003, as a mark of recognition of his astute qualities as an engineer and administrator, Engr. Kamila was appointed the General Manager of the Kwara State Water Corporation

Engr. Kamila became a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in 1997 and, in the same year, registered as a Mechanical Engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He has served the NSE as a member of the ILORIN branch Executive Committee in various capacities culminating to the position of Chairman in 2006. He was a member of the COREN ERM Committee in Ilorin Zone, where he also served as the COREN Supervising Engineer from 2002-2013.

Engr. Kamila attended the Government Secondary School, Malete between January 1973 and June 1977. He also studied at Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin and acquired the Higher National Diploma. With the zeal to further his education, he proceeded to the then Anambra State University of Science and Technology, Enugu where he bagged the Post Graduate Diploma and Master in Engineering in 1988 and 1990 respectively. Engr. Kamila took time off his busy schedule to study for a Master in Public Administration certificate of the University of Ilorin in 2003.

He was nominated to attend the Senior Executive Course 28 of the prestigious National institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru-Jos in 2006 and thus became a member of the national institute (mni). He was also conferred with the fellowship award of NSE in November 2010.

Engr. Kamila, a professional engineer and seasoned administrator is married with children.
